Alesis Firewire Driver
From what I've gathered, the latest Multimix Firewire drivers you can find online work fine, it's just that the newer macOS operating systems have an advanced security protocol (SIP) that blocks the driver installation process from installing where it needs to be (/System/Library/Extensions). To get around this, you can boot into recovery mode (command+R on restart) and disable SIP via Terminal with the command 'csrutil disable', and install the driver (AlesisFirewire.kext) using Kext Utility app. I've tried variations on this multiple times but haven't been successful yet, and it's sooo frustrating. There was mention of possibly needing to update the firmware on the mixer, but that info is gone and I don't know how to check the firmware version of my MultiMix, nor where or how to get the correct firmware update installed.
This is the latest and most up to date forum post I could find on the subject, and documents macOS Catalina users being able to use these older MultiMix Firewire series mixers. There are also links to most recent drivers and the Kext Utility:

Randy, The patch that i installed seems to do the trick my fingers will remain crossed for a multimix 16 firewire alesis. Eiher that or the configuration of changes and devices i disabled or a combination of the two.
Anyway i was able to record 6 tracks flawlessley. Everything just felt solid and stable hopfully it remains. Just out of curiosity How many tracks have multimix 16 firewire alesis been able to record at the same time with a lateney of ?

Why don't you list the changes that you made here, that way it might multimix 16 firewire alesis a help to others. I bought a firewire cable the other day for a back up, I am going to record a choir in a couple of weeks and wanted to be prepared.
I looked at it last night, the description says that it complies with IEEE standards and lists the data transfer as Mbps. Might check yours to see what it says.
Well, I went to do some recording today and seems Win XP sp2 reads the drivers for a few seconds then looses them. That is, the playback from winamp works for a few seconds then gets all choppy and statticky.

I did the uninstall and re install several times but with no luck. I tried disableing the stepping on the Pentium M cpu, no luck. Have I missed something from earlier postings that might help me?
Is there a solution to my problem or do I call Alesis and complain? The smaller models in the Multimix range are the eight-channel Multimix Firewire 8 left and the channel Multimix Firewire 12 right.
